A crawl space vapor barrier is a simple mechanical barrier of plastic that keeps moisture from wicking up through the soil on which a home sits. The vapor barrier is one of the primary tools to manage moisture around a home. Plastic type is often very thick and can be clear or opaque.

Generally, one sheet of plastic won’t cover the entire surface of the foundation floor. Several sheets of plastic are used. They are cut and tapped together. The sheets are cut and tapped around obstacles and foundation piers.
